On November 10th, the music therapist at the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center(CCCAC) made contact with Don Ritter of the Blue Star Connection after being referred to him by another music therapist.   After hearing what the needs were (specifically: a bass guitar, an acoustic guitar and an acoustic electric guitar), and learning about the mission of the CCCAC,  Don said he would work on it and be in touch.  On Friday November 20th, Don came to the CCCAC with exactly those items including two amplifiers!   The generous donation will assist many clients to resolve their traumatic concerns through music therapy interventions.   
  The mission of Collin County Children's Advocacy Center is to identify, protect and improve the lives of abused and neglected Collin County children. The CCCAC works together with a multi-disciplinary team to investigate, treat, and prosecute child abuse cases within Collin County in addition to providing a safe place for children to tell their stories and begin to heal.  The CCCAC Clinical Services Department offers specialized therapy, including music therapy, to children and non-offending family members who have experienced trauma as the result of abuse, for as long as needed and throughout the development of the child, free of charge.   To learn more about our mission at the CCCAC and the history of the Children’s Advocacy Center movement, please visit our website.

Dear Don,

I want to say Thank You again for the generous donation of instruments.   The instruments are so satisfying.  One young lady was using the bass guitar ( this was a client I didn’t expect to take to bass—seemed more interested in guitar) and immediately began thumping out a bass rhythm after I taught her one note and she just went to town with that note.  It was an amazing session!
