My name is Julia, I am writing on behalf of my son Alex (14 years old) who was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in July of 2009.  He had 2 tumor resections and went thru radiation and chemotherapy in August / September time frame.  Currently he is undergoing the intense chemotherapy regiment for next 12-18 months.  Allison Donohue from The Children’s Hospital in Aurora gave us your contact for possibility to include him in your generous program The Blue Star Connection.  Alex took 3 years of piano lessons when he was in Elementary School and is interested in learning how to play guitar between his cancer treatments.  We have a neighbor next door who is an excellent guitar player and performer who would help Alex with lessons. We live in Berthoud, Colorado area.

Thank you very much for overlooking such a nice program. We made it to the Guitar Center in Arvada on the 31st of December, and Alex picked up the guitar...., such a joy!!!!!!!! Bill, the Sales Manager at the store helped Alex with making the decision (on the way to store he asked about the drums) We looked at both, but the final decision was "start up kit": guitar and amp.  He played it the other day for a such a long time that he had  sore fingers for couple of days, today he got back to it, retune it again and did show his sister what he can do with it, sounds like he loves it. Thank you again for making a smile on the face of our child, and sparks in his eyes, this means so much to us.  We hope that he will find the love in music and in exchange it will make him stronger and will encourage him to fight the disease.  We are so pleased with your program and would like to return favorite in the future when we are done with the fight for Alex's life. Please let us know what we can do in return.
