KJ is a 15 year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy who enjoys writing horror stories, poems, and composing music.

My son, KJ, just received a keyboard from your organization and I cannot express how truly grateful we are. Music has so much healing power and a part of KJ’s healing during his hospital stay was contributed to the power of music through the use of a keyboard. He tries to use the keyboard at the hospital as much as he can but now he has one of his own. Here is a statement from KJ:
“Thank you Grand County Blues for giving me the piano. You have brightened my life by giving me the gift of music. I wish for you- forever a successful business. Thank You

                                                 UNTITLED
White and black keys I put in my mailbox.
Letters of the alphabet that got me set.
Walking through mountain top snow.
Music that manipulates people’s emotions, I hope to one day master you.
As I sit to pray- I hope to become famous one day.
Today- I rise to the occasion to be the best that I can be with every note I seize.
The more time I spend with you, the more I begin to master you.
The less time I spend with you, the more I’ll be thinking of you.
I can’t wait to come home and play with you.
You and I- we were meant for each other.
You cheer me up when I’m sad, you make me happy and sometimes mad.
You are a complicated individual but we’ll make it through it all- PIANO.

KJ - What an inspiring piece of work, even to a guy that's had a piano
around for a long time. Your words say exactly how learning to play
can be challenging, maddening, and the most rewarding thing in the
world. If you need anything, John Catt has my contact info - Best, JC

KJ, this is for you, inspired by your beautiful poem.

Might You Find

you might find
as you sit to pray
that indeed
you already are
famous today
for you have
exactly what you need
right there
in your heart
you have the key
a gift
a note
a melody
already rings true
through you,
so play
make a mistake
or two
it’s your time
to rise
masterfully
it’s your time
to find
your way

KJ:

God has gifted you with so much talent. Your physical challenges will not limit you, but they will propel you higher. I am so excited about what your future has in store.

Love You!
