Just before I turned four, I was diagnosed with leukemia. I endured treatment for over three years and am now in remission.  I have a great family and all of us love music. This year in school I decided to take band and needed to pick an instrument to play. After trying all almost all of them, I decided to play the trumpet. I am grateful to Blue Star Connection for helping me get a trumpet to play!

January started out great for Adam Carter. What child isn’t excited for their birthday? Adam turned 11 years old in January 2009 and was getting ready to finish off the second half of his 5th grade year at Holy Family School in Decatur. Soon after that birthday, Adam and his family was shocked and distressed to learn that, with nearly no symptoms, Adam was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, specifically, Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET), a rare cancer that is found in soft tissue and bone. John Carey is a 14 year old boy with Hodgkins disease who is currently admitted for a bone marrow transplant. He lives in Colorado Springs with his parents and two siblings. He is a very active, outgoing, and bright boy. His father is a professor but also plays the piano “very well”. Since John enjoys music, he got a drum set from Make a Wish, he thought his father could teach him the keyboard while in the hospital and during recovery.

Dylan was 4 years, 11 months old when he was diagnosed with Stage IV, Non-Hodkins, Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, on September 10, 2008. He started receiving treatments on September 11th and continues his treatments today. He has entered the maintenance phase of treatment, which will last for the next year and a half, but his doctor visits are only once or twice a month instead of daily.

Cheyene is a piano player from Dallas, Texas. Tune back in for her story!

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy.I love my guitar...it's sooooooooo beautiful. Sir thank you so so so so so so much.I made like 7 calls after getting my guitar to my friends. My father thanks you and praises your foundation for doing such a lovely job for cancer patients. He will be getting in contact with you soon because he wants to help too. From 2 days i have been getting fever in evenings but today i was so happy that i didn't:) I have been playing my rocking guitar for like 4 hours and the cool part is i even got to spent quality time with beautiful people like Rudy sir and Tips. They ROCK!! The amplifier is really cool and my black guitar strap has white butterflies on them. I looooooooove it. Thank you so much again!! Two of the three boys still weren't up at 1 p.m. so Shane and I woke them up!!! Devon and Mason were half awake during the opening of the usual gifts...deodorant, shampoo, snacks, gum, drink mixes, gift cards, etc. He wanted to dig into the cinnamon rolls that were just baked and I said 'I think there may be one present left'. I handed him the envelope and he asked 'what is this?'

Hi I'm 18 years old and live in Colorado springs born in December in Colorado Springs I like to skateboard, snowboard listen to music and all the normal teen stuff but I cant do it as much since I got cancer my sophomore year. I've been through treatment twice but I kept relapsing so I'm scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this year sometime in April so in a couple months here I'll be leaving the Springs and staying up in Denver for about half a year.

After a year of weekly chemotherapy treatments, I underwent surgery at MD Anderson Kendra and friends.JPGCancer Center on June 6th.  They were able to remove the tumor from my hip. I became a professional at using crutches after the surgery and quickly moved into physical therapy sessions twice a week.  I have been working hard at regaining strength in my leg and getting myself back to pre-surgery status.  I will be returning back to Houston and MD Anderson on September 10th and 11th to make sure that all of the tumor was removed.

My name is Danielle Marie Stromberg I live in Warwick, RI. I am 19 years old, I graduated high school in 2007. I am now going to be a sophomore in college. I was diagnosed with an isolated stage 2b melanoma of the scalp in April of 2004. It was removed with surgery and they did a skin graph. I have been cancer free for for years.

Hy My Name is Yosef Eliezrie , I am 22.I like listening to music, building websites, art, and all the regular young adult stuff. I live in yosef.jpgYorba Linda, Ca, and I was diagnosed with  Acute Mylogenous Leukemia (Cancer of The Blood and Bone Marrow), in July 2005 while on a summer teaching mission in Vilnius, Lithuania. I immediately returned to the US and started High Dose Chemo. They looked for a bone marrow match for a bone marrow transplant, but could not find a match.

Sebastian is 7 years old and lives with his mom, dad and three siblings. On May 16, 2007 Sebastian was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called T-Cell ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). Sebastian has responded to his treatment really well and is currently in Maintenance chemotherapy for the next year and a half. He is in 2nd grade and is really good at reading and math.

Hmmmm… what can I say? I’m just getting out of remission for a fatty brain tumor. I got the pump to prove it. I have had some serious family problems but I just looked at them as lessons in life and learned from them.  I love reggae music and have a completely open mind when it comes to art, food, people and especially music.
